This young and promising player won on January 2008 his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, thus becoming the first Serbian ever to win a grand Slam singles title.

In 2007 Djokovic compiled a 19-4 record in Grand Slam play, losing to Federer and Nadal twice each, and 24-7 mark in ATP Masters Series tournaments.

He also was the runner-up at the US Open and reached three Masters Series finals, winning the Miami’s Sony Ericsson Open and the Roger’s Cup in Montreal. He also reached the semi-finals at the French Open and Wimbledon.

The Serb finished 2007 as the youngest player in year-end Top 10 and he compiled his best season by capturing a personal-high five ATP titles while reaching his first Grand Slam final. His highest singles ranking on the ATP Tour is number three, which he reached on July 2007.

Djokovic reached the Australia Open final after a straight sets win over world number one and defending champion Roger Federer. He went on to win the final in four sets against Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He dropped only one set in seven matches and became the youngest player in the open era to have reached all four Grand Slam semi-finals.
