Roddick, a former World No. 1 tennis player, finished sixth in the 2006 and 2007 ATP Race. He became a Grand Slam singles champion when he won the title at the 2003 U.S. Open.

He has reached three other Grand Slam finals (Wimbledon twice and the U.S. Open), losing to Swiss Roger Federer each time.

In 2003 Roddick was honored by the ATP as the Player of the Year when he became the youngest American to end the year at No. 1 in the Indesit ATP Race.

In 2004 Roddick won the Miami Masters, known back then as the NASDAQ 100 Open and now renamed to the Sony Ericsson Open. Roddick finished 2004 ranked as the world's No. 2, the U.S.'s No. 1, and the player with the most aces (1017).

In 2006 at the Cincinnati Masters Roddick defeated Scottish player Andy Murray and then Chilean Fernando Gonzalez to reach his first Masters Series final of the year.

In the final, Roddick beat Spain’s Juan Carlos Ferrero to win his 21st career title, his second title in Cincinnati, his fourth ATP Masters Series title, and his first and only title of  2006.

In 2007 Roddick finished in the Top 10 for the sixth straight season, won an ATP title for seventh consecutive year and led the U.S. to its first Davis Cup title since 1995. Roddick was a key member of the Davis Cup as he remained unbeaten with a 6-0 record in Cup play.

The American team defeated Russia, the defending champions, in the finals by a score of 4-1. Roddick defeated Dmitry Tursunov of the Russian Davis Cup team in the rubber match.
