Philadelphia Eagles History

The Eagles, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the now-defunct Cincinnati Reds football team, joined the NFL as 1933 expansion teams. The Philadelphia Eagles ended a playoff and Super Bowl drought when they went to Super Bowl XXXIX and lost to the New England Patriots 24-21 in February, 2005.  They had previously lost Super Bowl XV  to Oakland Raiders, 27-10, in 1981. The Philadelphia Eagles professional football team and one of five teams in the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League (NFL). The team have called Lincoln Financial Field home since 2003.
