Sugar Bowl History
The 73rd Sugar Bowl sponsored by Allstate returns to the Louisiana Superdome after it relocated to Atlanta last year due to damage the Superdome suffered by Hurricane Katrina. The game was hosted at Tulane Stadium from 1935 through 1974 on the Etienne de de Boré sugar plantation, where sugar was first granulated. Since then, it was played in the Louisiana Superdome. This year's participants are familiar with the game. The LSU Tigers have won a total of five Sugar Bowls, the last designated as the BCS National Championship in 2004. Notre Dame has won two Sugar Bowls, the last in 1992.
