PAC 10 Tournament

The PAC-10 Tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Pacific 10 Conference.

The tournament, first held in 1987, is a single-elimination tournament which takes place every year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Its seeding is based on regular season records.

The winner, declared Conference Champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Initially the tournament ran from 1987 to 1990 and was hosted at different school sites. It was dropped after 1990 upon opposition from coaches and poor revenue and attendance.

The tournament was restarted in 2000 after determining that the tournament would help increase exposure of the conference and help the seeding of the schools in the NCAA tournament.

Arizona leads the league with four PAC-10 titles; UCLA and Oregon with two are tied for second place, while Stanford and Washington have one each.

In 2007 the Oregon Ducks defeated the South California Trojans and entered the NCAA tournament with a #3 seed however they lost in the Elite Eight to the eventual National Champions Florida Gators.
