ACC Tournament 2008

The ACC Tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Atlantic Coast Conference. The tournament, held every year since 1954, is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner, declared Conference Champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

In 2007 the ACC tournament took place in Tampa, Florida. In the final North Carolina defeated North Carolina State (seeded 10th) for the title. This is the first year a 10th seed has won a game in an ACC tournament, much less three in a row. By winning the ACC championship North Carolina is now tied with Duke for most ACC Tournament Championships with sixteen. The Tar Heels went on to lose at the Elite Eight against the Georgetown Hoyas.
